The Longest Road

Even if you don’t celebrate Christmas, you have to admit that there’s something lovely about a story of two wanderers seeking shelter and an innkeeper offering up the only space he has left -- in his stable, where a woman soon gives birth to a special baby boy. Every year, the Fort Restaurant (19192 Highway Eight in Morrison) celebrates the Mexican tradition of Las Posadas: Two children dressed as Mary and Joseph travel from door to door, looking for somewhere to spend the night; they are turned away door after door until they finally reach their fated innkeeper.

Stop by the Fort between 5 and 7 p.m. tonight; this is an outdoor event, so be sure and dress warmly. Biscochitos and hot beverages will be provided, and there’s no charge for admission. For information, call 303-839-1671 or visit www.tesorofoundation.org.
Wed., Dec. 24, 5-7 p.m., 2008
