All I Want for Christmas

Santa answers a most unusual wish.

Dear Santa: This year I’d really, really, REALLY like some belly dancers, strip teasers, magicians and a comedian. P.S.: Can you also include a midget?

Believe it or not, I’ve sent this letter to the North Pole for the last fifteen or so years, and Santa has never delivered. Sure, I’ve gotten some good stuff in the past, but it just never really added up to a true Christmas miracle. After last season, I was feeling really bummed until I heard about Midnite Martini’s Winter Burlescapades at Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe Street. I guess Santa finally got my letter.

Winter Burlescapades, which opened last night and continues tonight and January 2 and 3 at 7 p.m., is a dream come true — minus the little person. “Midnite Martini produced a burlesque show that has this whole holiday theme,” says Lannie’s general manager Jefferson Arca. “A lot of humor is involved, but also magic, comedy, aerial acrobatics, beautiful costumes and beautiful women doing old-fashioned 1930s/1940s-style burlesque striptease. It’s all original material; all the songs and dances were designed for this four-night appearance. There’s also an emcee who ties the whole thing together into a sort of fairy tale.”

Admission is $20. For more information, call 303-293-0075 or go to www.lannies.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m. Starts: Dec. 26. Continues through Jan. 3, 2008
