Sing for Your Dinner

HANU-Karaoke takes Hanukkah songs to the stage.

Believe it or not, some people don’t celebrate Christmas. Paging Bill O’Reilly: The War on Christmas is upon us! Well, it’s either that, or there are people in this coun-try who practice a different religion. Go figure. Tonight’s HANU-Karaoke & Latke Dinner follows a Hanukkah/Shabbat service at Temple Micah, 2600 Leyden Street. The all-ages shindig starts with a 6 p.m. service and communal kindling of candles, followed by a supper of latkes and condiments from Zaidy’s Deli. The highlight, how-ever, is HANU-Karaoke, during which attendees can get up and sing their favorite Hanukkah songs.

Today also happens to be Boxing Day, otherwise known as St. Stephen’s Day, which honors a man who, like Antonio Salieri, is condemned to have his accomplishments overshadowed by a more prominent figure. What connects the three is that they all bow down to the Big Guy.

Admission to HANU-Karaoke and the Latke Dinner is $10 for adults and $5 for kids twelve and under; call 303-388-4239 or visit www.micahdenver.org.
