Feeeling Chili

It’s about to get warm in a very cold place. The Breckenridge Mountain Rotary Club is organizing the second annual Chilly Chili Cook-Off today from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Riverwalk Center, 150 West Adams Street in Breckenridge. DJ DC will be spinning as people compile their best spicy green and red chilis and salsa. “It’s a sanctioned event for the International Chili Society,” says Rotary Club rep Lisa Cheek. “We’ll have two divisions, one for the professionals and one for restaurants or people around town .”

While the actual Chili Society competitors win only points for their circuit, the other chili-cookers can win a variety of prizes, including cash or a three-night stay in a local Resort Quest establishment. There will be professional judges as well as a People’s Choice award. More than 1,000 people are expected, so buy your tickets ($15 pre-sale or $20 at the door) early. For tickets or more information, visit www.breckrotary.org.
Sat., Jan. 10, 3-8 p.m., 2009
