Grab your cowboy boots and hat for some country fun at the fourth annual Country Showcase, a fundraiser for local childrens charities, at the Cowboy Lounge, 1941 Market Street. But beware: Theres a Headache waiting for you. Yes, Headache the mechanical bull will be on hand to toss about twenty Denver celebrities on their asses. The list includes chef Tyler Wiard of Elway's, city councilman Charlie Brown, CBS4 reporter Molly Hughes and Sam Adams of the Rocky Mountain News; they all hope to beat last years winning time of 36.75 seconds. Dont snicker: Philanthropist-about-town Walter Isenberg (who is fifty!) outrode fifteen other riders for that title. Laugh instead at the Demented Divas drag queen comedy team, who will open the event with hilarious excerpts from their new country-Western show, Totally Plowed.
Come on down to cheer, jeer and, for a small donation, take a turn riding Headache. The rockin, ridin party, which runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m., benefits Concerts for Kids, but while the proceeds go to children, its strictly an adult event. Tickets are $5 at the door (or $30 for VIP treatment, which includes admission, appetizers and one complimentary drink); for more information, call 303-605-2885 or e-mail sally@concertsforkids.org.
