Beer and Cheer

The Winter Brew Fest will warm your cold-weather blues.

Don’t be misled. The Winter Brew Fest isn’t a sudsy get-together featuring winter releases from microbreweries; it’s a festival that takes place in the winter and features craft beers. “Winter brews are encouraged, but we’re not focused on that. We don’t want to limit our festival in that way,” says Carolyn Pitcavage of RightOn Productions, which also produces a Summer Brew Fest. No matter, because the festival is growing in its third year, moving from the Oriental Theater, which sold out in 2008, to the much larger Mile High Station, at 2027 West Lower Colfax Avenue.

Beer lovers can sample more than 75 beers from 25-plus breweries, including Avery, Alaskan, Deschutes, Great Divide, Lefthand, Oskar Blues, Rogue, Sierra Nevada, Ska, Stone and Twisted Pine, and local band Lonesome Traveler will perform. The fest runs from 7 to 10 p.m.; tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. For more information, log on to www.denverbrewfest.com.
