Yes

Thursday, February 12, Paramount Theatre, 303-830-8497.

Don McLean famously described February 3, 1959, when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper lost their lives in an Iowa plane crash, as "the day the music died" — but that's only because he wrote "American Pie" decades before three members of the group Yes appeared on the Fox News show hosted by Mike Huckabee. During the appearance, from last November, the former Arkansas governor and erstwhile presidential candidate happily gabbed with veteran bandmembers Alan White and Chris Squire before introducing Benoit David, a singer for Close to the Edge, a Yes tribute combo, currently subbing for original vocalist Jon Anderson, who's out of commission with a respiratory ailment. After that, the Yes men played "Owner of a Lonely Heart" in painfully clunky fashion with the assistance of two Huckabee staff members, but not the host, even though he's an amateur musician. Lucky thing, because had the Huckster joined in, it might have killed Don McLean, too.
