Like Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson and that dude with the dreads from Counting Crows who dated every actress you'd ever heard of in the 90s, Hollywood has always flirted with rock-and-roll stars. Add some fire to the flames at the Denver Film Society's rock-and-roll-themed Party With Oscar a perfect time to pair leather and lace and celebrate Tinseltown's biggest night in style.
The eighteenth annual soiree begins tonight at 5 p.m. at Starz FilmCenter in the Tivoli building, 900 Auraria Parkway; for $45, you'll get a light dinner, two drink tickets and the Oscars on four large high-definition screens two with sit-down theater viewing and two with lounge viewing for socializing. Entertainment includes live music, DJs, pinball and a chance to win two all-access passes to the Los Angeles Film Festival in June for those whod like to guess at the nights winners. Ballots are $10, and if you buy in advance at the box office, you'll get a free pass to any Starz film the day of your purchase. This is the only Academy-sanctioned party in Colorado, and guests will get the same program that's handed out to celebrities at the Kodak Theater, says Denver Film Society associate director Britta Erickson. Attire is Hollywood rock n roll.
And if your idea of glamour and glitz is traveling green, you can cruise to the party on your bike and get in for a reduced $20 admission. For more information on the festivities, visit www.denverfilm.org or call 303-595-3456.
