A Good Belt

Free your mind and hands with the Beer Buckle.

George Thorogood drinks alone, and now we know why. With a beverage in tow, it’s hard to shake hands, throw your arm around a girl or slap someone on the back without spilling. If only Thorogood had a Beer Buckle, he’d be able to share that bourbon, Scotch and beer with friends. Invented by former Texan and current Central City entrepreneur Jay Kriner, the Beer Buckle is a belt buckle that folds down, revealing a spring-loaded brass ring that pops up from the inside and allows the owner to secure his or her beer.

Kriner says he got the idea as a college student, worked on the design for several years and unveiled the buckle – patent pending -- to the public last fall. Since then, he has sold about 1,000 of the $25 accessories nationwide, along with a line of clothing by his Beer Clothing Company brand. Come find out more at the Beer Buckle Premier Party, beginning tonight at 8 p.m. at Nallen’s Irish Pub, 1429 Market Street. There will be live music from My Own Device, free giveaways (including buckles, hats and clothing) and $1 to $3 beer specials. Admission is free. For more info, call Nallen’s at 303-572-0667 or log on to www.thebeerbuckle.com.
