This is for the aging adult who would like to continue their career but cant find a way to do it, says Carlos Bryant, the GFFAs co-commissioner. Its not just your Okay, were going to get together and play football kind of thing. It gets really competitive out there.
Hosting year-round league play and cash-purse tournaments, the eight-on-eight, semi-contact GFFA attracts former high-school, college and professional players (Bryant played for the Dallas Cowboys practice team), as well as spectators and all-purpose fans. This weekend, it hosts the Ballers Cup tournament, a two-day affair culminating in cash, prizes and future tourney bids for the best teams, some of which are traveling from California and Texas. Ballers Cup play begins at 9 a.m. today and runs until 3 p.m. Sunday at All City Stadium, 1450 South Franklin Street. Registration is $250 per team and required by March 20.
