Eat Your Words

Burrowing into edible books.

Bookworms, unite! Literature lovers devour words on the printed page like the paper-loving insects they’re named for, but rarely do they have an opportunity to actually eat books. If you think cake tomes created from gelatin-based edible paper sound just as delicious as curling up with your favorite novel and a cup of tea, then check out today’s Tenth International Edible Book Show and Tea at the Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut Street in Boulder.

Anyone can bring an edible book creation for a $3 entry fee (which also covers admission, and additional entries are $1 each). Artist registration runs from 3 to 3:45 p.m., and doors open to the public at 4. Admission is $7 for adults and $3 for children under twelve, with a $1 discount if you bring a non-perishable food item. At the event, a benefit for the Book Arts League, everyone will get a chance to create his or her own edible art by experimenting with edible books and markers; the books will be consumed from 5 to 5:30 p.m.
