Best Foot Forward
DAVA youth concentrate on fashion design in the latest show.
“We are focusing on design this entire year at DAVA,” explains Viviane Le Courtois, program manager for Downtown Aurora Visual Arts. That explains why the upcoming Fashion Forward show -- a collaboration between DAVA youth and local fashion mavens such as Mona Lucero -- is heavy on the elements of fashion design, but without sacrificing any of the lighthearted energy that make DAVA shows such delights to behold.

The youth put together jackets with objects attached, crocheted hats, shoes made of cardboard, a duct-tape suit and much more. Fashion Forward opens tonight from 4 to 8 p.m., with DAVA youth modeling their creations. An outdoor fashion show emceed by Brandi Shigley will take place June 12 during the East End Arts District Summer Art Walk; the exhibit stays up through June 26.
