Loretta Lynn

Wednesday, June 10, Paramount Theatre, 1-866-461-6556.

Loretta Lynn's hipster quotient shot up considerably after the country legend invited White Stripes frontman Jack White to produce her most recent release, 2004's Van Lear Rose. While it might seem like an odd pairing, White and the coal miner's daughter made a diamond of an album (named after the Van Lear mines that Lynn's father worked in), and Lynn sounds gorgeous throughout most of the disc, especially on her reverb-soaked duet with White on "Portland Oregon," which earned a Grammy for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals. The record also served as confirmation that Lynn, who's been singing classic country for more than four decades, is most definitely still a country icon.
