A Doggone Good ContestBy Tyler NemkovPublished on June 10, 2009 at 1:01amSome say summer is about getting into the gym and fitting into last years bathing suit. I say its about eating a ton of hot dogs. Im talking fifty or so and not over the course of an entire summer, but in about ten minutes. Sound appetizing? If so, be at the Sams Club at 7817 Park Meadows Drive at 11 a.m. today for the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Regional Competition, in preparation for the companys Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest, which takes place at Coney Island on Independence Day. The event is the last of three regional competitions for the 2009 eating season. Come watch as "Double O" Kevin Ross of San Diego, Russ Witzke of Denver and others inhale enough dogs to feed a small country. Spectators can enjoy a Coke and a (single) dog at the event for $1.50.
