Some say summer is about getting into the gym and fitting into last year’s bathing suit. I say it’s about eating a ton of hot dogs. I’m talking fifty or so — and not over the course of an entire summer, but in about ten minutes. Sound appetizing? If so, be at the Sam’s Club at 7817 Park Meadows Drive at 11 a.m. today for the Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Regional Competition, in preparation for the company’s Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest, which takes place at Coney Island on Independence Day.

The event is the last of three regional competitions for the 2009 eating season. Come watch as "Double O" Kevin Ross of San Diego, Russ Witzke of Denver and others inhale enough dogs to feed a small country.

Spectators can enjoy a Coke and a (single) dog at the event for $1.50. For more information, go to www.nathansfamous.com
