What do surfing and Zen have in common? Well, nothing
and everything. To truly understand the connection, youll need to pick up a copy of Jaimal Nikos Yogiss book Saltwater Buddha: A Surfers Quest to Find Zen on the Sea, which follows Yogis as he heads to Hawaii with a one-way ticket (purchased using his moms credit card), seeking peace on the waves. He surfs his way through Hawaii, San Francisco and even New York while simultaneously embarking on a spiritual pilgrimage through monasteries in France and Berkeley. Saltwater Buddha begins with the words Dear Family, Please do not worry. I am somewhere in the world and I will call you when I get there. From that point forward, its all about Yogiss journey toward the elusive there.
