If you're getting tired of that inescapable electro house sound, consider checking out D. Ramirez. This English DJ was an early champion of the now-ubiquitous style, but he's since abandoned it for a deeper, more subtle approach that exists at the juncture of deep house and techno, with a splash of breakbeat: a little abstract, a good bit funky, and colored with just a touch of soul. Whatever his style, Ramirez shows a meticulous attention to sonic detail in both his track selections as a DJ and his own productions and remixes — something that garnered him praise from electronic-music mag Future Music for Best Synth Sound of All Time. The fruits of his aural labors can be heard on his own tracks (which are featured heavily in his DJ sets), remixes for Roger Sanchez, Bodyrox, Moby, Dirty Vegas and others, and on mix albums including several discs for Ministry of Sound.
