Did you die a little inside when Facebook’s Scrabulous game was removed from the site due to a copyright-infringement lawsuit? Did you rejoice when it returned as Lexulous? Does your entire family refuse to play Boggle with you due to your commodious and pervasive vocabulary? (And the annoying victory dance you perform every time you win?)

In short, are you a word nerd? If so, the Denver Public Library’s Fresh City Life program has just the event for you. In conjunction with Novo Coffee, it’s presenting Word Nerds, a once-a-month meeting of the minds for people who love language so much that maybe they should go ahead and marry it. Throw down with like-minded bibliophiles and grammar gurus on such board games as Scrabble, Boggle and Balderdash — and, hey, if you’ve got a favorite, lesser-known word-related game that you want to share with the world, by all means, bring it with you!

Prizes for the best Word Nerds will be provided by Novo and the Tattered Cover; every last Wednesday of the month, through October 28, at Novo, 1200 Acoma Street. For information, visit http://denverlibrary.org/programs/fresh/wordnerds.html or call 720-496-4146.
Last Wednesday of every month, 5-8 p.m. Starts: Aug. 26. Continues through Oct. 28, 2009
