If you haven’t had a chance to get out of town this summer, here’s a quick trip into the past: Our Journey, a self-guided museum trek to the small towns of Colorado’s central plains, can ostensibly be completed in one day and maybe even on one tank of gas — but once you’ve finished the trek through rural nostalgia, you’ll definitely feel as if you’ve been away. Among the many attractions you’ll encounter are the wacky World’s Wonder View Tower in Genoa, Grampa Jerry’s Clown Museum in Arriba, the nostalgic Limon Heritage Museum and Railroad Park (a train buff’s heaven) and the delightful Kit Carson County Carousel in Burlington, to name a few favorites.

Go online and get yourself an Our Journey kit packed with maps, historical tidbits, a songbook and CD for singing on the road, and a passport ticket that you can have stamped at every tour attraction you visit (admission is free if you have an On Journey kit). Once you’ve got seven stamps, you can trade it in for two free books about the Colorado plains; with nine, you can enter a drawing to win a bed-and-breakfast deal.

But time’s running out, because Our Journey packs up for the season after Labor Day. So register now at www.ourjourney.info or call 1-800-825-0208.
