BONE UP ON ARTBy Susan FroydPublished on August 27, 2009 at 1:00amThe Denver Art Museum will get a head start on Halloween at tonights Untitled # 24 event: Subtitled Crossbones, the once-monthly highbrow party where anything goes (in a controlled sort of way) turns its artful focus on spooky stuff this time around, inspired by the DAMs own little-known ghost stories. From 6 to 10 p.m., youll have the opportunity to hear some of those, but heres a sampling of the fun things youll be also invited to try. For one, you can contact dead artists using a Ouija board. Who would you have a question for? An Old Master like Rembrandt? Or a swashbuckler like Dalí? Try your hand at crafting some boney bling (femurs and metatarsals provided). Cheer your side when skeptics face off against paranormal researchers for the Colorado X: Case Files show, which deliberates over the truth about various Colorado tales. And to top it off, locally made fan film Return of the Ghostbusters screens at 6:15 p.m., Bad Luck City and the Legendary River Drifters share live music, and Buntport Theaters Joan and Charlie serial continues, with special deference to the evenings theme. The DAM is at 100 West 14th Avenue Parkway, and tonights witching hours are free with the regular gate admission of $10 to $13 (members admitted free); flash a valid student ID at the door and get two-for-one admission. Go to www.denverartmuseum.org or call 720-865-5000 for details.
