Heres an event thats certain to be up your alley as long as youre a fan of local musicians (particularly local musicians whove broken out nationally) or a supporter of childrens issues or a celebrity hound. And that basically covers just about everyone. Tonight from 6 to 11 p.m., Flobots.org will present the first annual Bring It On Bowling Ball, which benefits music programs for youth at the Denver Childrens Home, among other worthy causes.

More About
Flobots.org, of course, is the non-profit organization created by the Denver-based Flobots, even before the group hit it big nationally, that has since hired former Westword music editor Laura Bond as its director. Shes the brains behind this event, which she promises will be a star-studded, action-packed showdown to see who really rules the lanes in D-Town. At the Ball, the Flobots will take on that other local group thats hit it big nationally, the Fray. The battle of the bands will take place at Lucky Strike Lanes at 415 South Teller Street in Belmar, and teams will compete for the chance to bowl with stars that include not just these musicians, but members of the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Mammoth and the Colorado Rapids. There will also be Guitar Hero competitions; music by DJ Musa; a live auction featuring a guitar signed by the Fray, the Flobots and Flogging Molly; plus raffles and the chance to go diving in the tank at Denver Aquarium with Flobots.
Strike! Tickets range from $100 for individual admission to a $1,000 team package; to find out how you can roll with the Fray and the Flobots, call 303-945-2191 or go to www.flobots.org.
