Regardless of your personal faith, music is food for the soul. That said, it isn't just your soul that will get fed at the Comedy Works' No Joke Gospel Brunch. As the name says, there isn't anything funny about the monthly event, which gets resurrected Sunday at Comedy Works' Landmark Village location; on hand to deliver the sonic spirituality will be Denver's own Hearts of Worship. The group, which regularly appears at venues across the country, will spice up the brunch's Southern menu with a side order of beaming positivity. But don't expect old-school, pew-rattling gospel music: The leader of the Hearts, Minister Tyree Morris, has assembled a flock of singers and instrumentalists who harmonize, energize and otherwise vitalize all within hearing range, laying down a fresh, contemporary sound while staying true to the music's roots. Even if your entire exposure to gospel music comes from way too many repeats of The Blues Brothers, the No Joke Gospel Brunch is sure to be filling (in more ways than one).
