Making the Grade

As the founder and executive director of the former Laboratory of Art and Ideas at Belmar, Adam Lerner and his team put together a variety of funky, informative programs aimed at making contemporary art both accessible and engaging for people of all backgrounds. Now the director of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, at 1485 Delgany Street, Lerner has applied the same approach to a larger platform. The first new series born of this merger is B+ (Very Good) Explanations of Contemporary Art. Over a four-week period, Lerner will discuss the works of twelve emerging artists with four young curators; the guest at today’s event, which starts at 6 p.m., is Steven “Sluggin' Steven” Wolf of Steven Wolf Fine Arts.

"The idea behind this program is that they're really young curators in touch with the art scene and what's going on in that world," says Sarah Kate Baie, the museum’s director of programming. "It's about what they like and what they're skeptical of as they see trends emerging in contemporary art."

Admission is $10 for members and $15 for non-members; for more information, call 303-298-7554 or go to www.mcadenver.org.
Tue., Oct. 6, 6 p.m., 2009
