Pass the Pigskin
It’s October, that rare and glorious time when seasons merge and you get best of summer’s weather along with the beginning of fall’s greatest attraction: football. Finally, your excuse to drink to excess on Mondays has returned. And to that end, they mix Monday Night Football with tequila and sangría at Lola. The combination is sure to liven up your Mondays…if not your Tuesday mornings.
The weekly parties are in Belola, in Lola’s basement, which is a perfect game-watching spot, complete with comfy leather couches facing the big screen. Drink specials include $12 buckets or Tecate cans, and Lola’s tasty food specials will help keep you sober; they include $8 chilaquiles or banana leaf-wrapped tamales — your choice of shrimp, chicken, chorizo or veggie — served with napa cabbage, pico de gallo, red or green chile, queso cotija, charred chiles and crumbled egg. Not your traditional football food, thank goodness!
And if you need to get out of the basement and into that fresh air, relax on Lola’s beautiful outdoor patio or just head upstairs for the Monday Barrio Nights menu and drink specials, which start at 5 p.m. and continue all night long.
