Invention Convention

Come see the future on display today at the Colorado Inventor Showcase, where dozens of inventors and entrepreneurs will exhibit tomorrow’s innovations in everything from software to alternative energy. The showcase is hosted by the DaVinci Institute, “a group of visionaries that do events to help inventors and entrepreneurs create the future instead of predicting it,” explains organization vice president Deb Frye. “We do it for the inventors. They need a venue to showcase their ideas and inventions. We've always had inventors asking us what to do with their inventions. The showcase came out of that.”

Award-winning science-fiction author and futurist David Brin, Joshua Schuler from MIT and Louis Foreman, creator of the TV show Everyday Edisons, will speak on various aspects of designing, building and profiting from the future. And for the next generation of inventors and entrepreneurs, there’s a special children’s program.

It starts at 3 p.m. today at the Cable Center, 2000 Buchtel Boulevard. Tickets are $50, or $40 for DaVinci Institute members, with a special $69 package for families. The children’s program is free with a donation of canned goods or toiletries, but you must pre-register. For more information and to register, visit www.coloradoinventorshowcase.com or call 303-666-4133.
