Theres a certain strangeness, à la M.C. Escher, in attending an event to help raise funds for a charitable theater organization that is in turn raising funds for non-profit groups through its stage productions. But thats what will happen tonight at the Pumpkin Patch Cabaret, hosted by the Rocky Mountain Arts Associations Gravity Defied Theatre. The companys next stage presentation, Youre a Good Man, Charlie Brown, opens in January, and proceeds will benefit the Starlight Childrens Foundation.

More About
We always want to make our cabarets more than just people singing by a piano, says GDTs Keith Rabin. We want to turn them into more of a theatrical performance. We tried to find a whole bunch of songs from different musicals that really had kind of a more macabre theme, that spooky Halloween-type thing.
In addition to the songs, Rabin says, Were doing some choreography, props, costumes. Its going to be a really amazing show, an incredible group of talent.
Help GDT help others tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Hamburger Marys, 700 East 17th Avenue. Tickets are $20; get yours at http://rmarts.tix.com.
