By the way, we hired a cousin of the (illegal, I strongly suspect - they have a revolving door of "cousins" in and out of there) family next door to clean our home. The woman brought her teenage kid, who started taking pictures of our possessions with his cell phone. After I told him to stop that, he brought fifteen of his buddies to the house next door and they started making trouble. Meanwhile, the woman closed the door to my housemate's room before "cleaning" it. Afterward, her financial identity was used to apply for a mortgage by "Yolanda" (which happened to be the first name of the person doing the cleaning).
You can't get Denver PD to do anything about crap like this, because they tell you the City Council won't let them. This same City Council, the Sanctuary City people, needs to be prosecuted for every illegal alien to which they have provided "sanctuary" on charges of facilitating illegal immigration - there is a Federal law against it, it's a felony count, and the penalty is $10,000 per offense and up to five years in jail.

I like I-100 and I-300. If you're not a licensed driver, you have no reason to be behind the wheel. The only way a police officer can determine whether or not you're a licensed driver is for you to produce a valid drivers' license (all the registration papers do is tell the officer that you were licensed when you bought your car, and they don't identify you by picture).
I'd expand it to cover ALL Coloradans, in fact. That way, the inherent problem with its targeting of those "may be reasonably suspected of being an illegal alien" - after all, my sons and I have been mistaken for being native Germans, and there may be a massive illegal immigration problem from Central Europe for all the officer who pulls me over knows - goes away.
I share the initiative sponsor's frustration with people illegally here from other places who behave rectally - well, I actually have a problem with ANYONE who thinks with his butt, I'm generous that way. But illegal aliens tend to live the loca vida here, then go back home after doing something for which they could do hard time here - like the guy who wasted the off-duty cop at that quincinera party a while back, then felt the call of his native land.
Personally, I think it's time to declare the sanctuary city party over. It hasn't worked, it's not going to work, and Webb and Hickenlooper and every member of the Denver City Council who's pushed for it need to be hit with Federal felony charges per count of faciltating illegal immigration.
Chalk it up to the ire of someone who's had his car window smashed in by the local Hispanic gentry for being white.

i just don't understand the crap of "free ride" my best friend is an illegal alien and if u tell him in his face that u hate him 'coz he's illegal he would still do anything for u he would help u no matter what, puttin' that aside he's telling me that he doesn't undestand abut that free ride stuff every time he pays for gas they don't telling not to pay full price because ge gets a free ride or when he buy groceries or when he pays almost double tuition in his college 'cos he does not have a ssn or when hes getting his tabs they don't tell him u get them for free because u guys get a free ride and i know for a fact that every week ge gets like 400 dls out his check that he may never see again, my question is..if this is not about race or profaling why most of the coments are about race and profiling?

Actually, this attempt at turning Denver police officers into INS agents (see Sherrif Joe Arapaio in Phoenix) IS motivated by race. Which is unfortunate, since unlicensed drivers causing accidents is a big problem, but an earlier comment nails this one on the head -- it is too bad this proposed legislation has a blatant INS slant to it, because it is a major problem outside of race or cultural/ethnic identity.
I would challenge every one of our "it must be them illegals" friends to look at a line up of 20 Mexican nationals and Mexican Americans side by side and affirmatively guess their citizenship status. Which speaks volumes about this perspective, and/or ragefest towards anything Mexican.
So what would this reveal about the bill's author? He obviously doesn't like Mexicans, either US citizens who are of Mexican descent or Mexican nationals. It would be refreshing for some of he and his ilk to stand up and be honest about this point, but many of these closeted racists aren't spiritually developed or mature enough to admit or realize it.
Additionally, I don't really trust anyone with a slumlord edge to their business practices, and especially a real estate investor who doesn't pull permits (???)
I had a friend from New Orleans, and he and his entire family were embarrassingly racist and not ashamed of it. I disagreed with his point of view, but we are still friends. But I appreciated his honesty, when he once told me, "I just don't like black people."

So big deal in any city if u don't have a drivers license and ur pulled ur car is towed and impounded. My advice is 2 start auctioning off the cars ASAP to make room for future impounded cars driven by illegal aliens. Does anyone remember the drunk driver who killed 3 people last year while i was living in Denver? One of those was a 2 year old baby who was killed by an illegal alien who should have been deported who was drunk. He drove his car into the Baskin-Robbins. Does anyone remember that. Why is it that illegal aliens who are basically criminal aliens allowed 2 continually break the law. They are the reason the economy is the way it is and if we keep turning a blind eye this country's economy will contine to get worse no matter what Obama and his cronies say.

This would be a compatible as an invaluable need with credit bureau reports, so illegal immigrants could be detected in Indianapolis. E-verify, a computerized tool has been adequately funded, which means ongoing modification and simplicity of use; along with the 1-9 paperwork. Further use could be Drivers license identification, auto registration, auto insurance, health care applications, IRS tax credits, home and store leases and renting, election voting and as of now removing foreigners from work locations?
Today we are bombarded on all sides by the inflow of foreign nationals, who in many cases can disappear leaving landlords with huge bills. E-Verify is possibly the best weapon to retaliate against illegal immigration. Senators and Representatives are all suspect, so call them at 202-224-3121. Only because of angry repercussions of THE PEOPLES response, that under intense pressure E-Verify survived. This is not about dicrimination against Mexican people, but the truth about how ugly get in this country, were illegals have a free ride everywere including taking our jobs, health care and crime, that is commited by illegals. When I came to this country,I came ligal way, after approve from my old country Government and USA. wold not try to do other way. This is just like; " we let someone to our home and they are taking over Our lifes and all possible parts.. Just go to areas were all those are hiding, look how thode, who are helping them, look at their trashed yards, just take a ride. Churches are hiding those people, and we are giving money not to support illegalls but to support Our churches. I stop hgoing to church, and giving money, because, I dont support illegalls no metter were they are from. They are coming here and destroing this country and taking everything from CITIZENS OF USA. We were hit by a drunk unlicensed driver, who happened to be Hispanic, in Denver. And you know what? He went to jail. I don't know what happened after that. I know other people who were hit by drunk licensed drivers of European descent, and they got off. This initiative is stupid. People get in car accidents. Sometimes those car accidents are because the people driving, whether they have a license or not, have no sense. And that spans across ethnicities, nationalities, citizenship status and every other characteristic. Sometimes the law works in enforcing actual traffic laws, not ridiculous measures like I-300, and sometimes it doesn't. Instead of passing a measure that will bankrupt the city, worsen the traffic situation through lack of officers to enforce real laws, and penalize random people who accidentally leave their licenses in the diaper bag from the previous day, why don't we strenghten and enforce the existing ones, or make Colorado more like Germany in the driver's license tests. You can't get a drivers license there unless you are an expert driver. There are enough crappy drivers WITH licenses who shouldn't, out there who cause accidents. If this is really about driving while stupid, let's make it about driving. I think Dan Hayes and his family should be the guinea pigs for a new German driving test. They all have to pass that driving test, and if they fail, their cars are all impounded and sold with the proceeds given to the city for wasting so much of our time and money.

WAKE UP AMERICA! There is nothing racist about this. Quit crying about the impound car lots filling up and mass maheim. If you don't have a valid driver's license, get your car towed - simple as that. Now that someone is trying to crack down on this - plain and simple, every bleeding heart in America is saying "poor illegal immigrants". THEY ARE NOT HERE LEGALLY - plain and simple. I, for one, have been hit by a drunk illegal immigrant. He served 6 months in our nice cozy jail and got sent back to Mexico. No repairs done on my vehicle and the following week, I saw him and his family AGAIN in Walmart...once again - here illegally. We have our immigration laws here for a reason. If we keep allowing the illegals to come in and make themselves at home - then the United States will become one of the countries that they are trying to get away from, with all the poverty and corrupt governments. I just understand how American's can be so stupid and not see this.

You know, I have lived in different countries, but was born in the U.S. Because of where I was born I don't think I deserve better, however, because I have worked hard for what I have, I feel like I have a right to protect it. Something I have learned in my travels is that every group of people is proud of who they are. I think I have a right to be proud to be a part of my country as much as everyone else in the world has a right to be proud of where they are from. I also understand if poor people in Mexico want to come to the US to take advantage of a healthier economy. I don't have a problem with them coming here. My wife is not a US citizen, and we had to go through a process for her to come into the U.S., which is the appropriate way to enter the country. We pay money for health insurance, and we pay money for auto insurance. I have friends from Mexico who entered the country legally and live here legally and appropriately. I'M EXTREMELY OPPOSED to people coming in here and TAKING ADVANTAGE of our system illegally. I was rear ended and almost killed by some idiot not paying attention while he was driving uninsured on the freeway in Phoenix. After he rear ended me, some other idiot rear ended him 5 seconds later which caused him to collide with my car again. The second rear ending driver was ALSO uninsured, AS WAS the driver between the two rear ending drivers. In 5 cars involved in the accident, I was the ONLY insured driver, and had to pay for my own damage. I was saying just the other day that they ought to impound people's cars if they are not insured or licensed. Driving is a privilege, not by any means a right, and the roads we drive on are paid for by taxes that illegals don't pay. If you want to be a legal law abiding citizen, welcome to the USA. If not, I think we have the right to PROTECT our citizens from your irresponsible and selfish thievery. We don't need your cheap labor. You being here is making our teenagers lazy. We have people to do your jobs, so if you don't want to obey our laws, go back to wherever you came from and be a burden to them. I have no sympathy for you. While you may be low income, I did not make you have more children than is financially responsible, and I am not the one who told you to live somewhere you cannot afford, or the one who told you to go to a country where you needed a car to get to work that you cannot afford to insure. We all make our decisions in life. If you cut corners, you can't expect to take advantage of a system whose laws you are not abiding. America is a land of opportunity, but that doesn't mean you don't have to start at the bottom and work your way up like everyone else. There is NOTHING RACIST about impounding cars of uninsured motorists. In the US it is ILLEGAL to operate an uninsured vehicle. Since these people can't be controlled or punished and are not even contributing to the law enforcement system's protection, this is really the only way to enforce our laws against their selfish defiance of our society. They are coming here to selfishly take and not equally contribute. That hardly makes them American, and it hardly earns them my sympathy. Poor though they may be, it does not give them the right to steal. If one of my children was trying to have a privilege they did not earn, I would certainly take it away from them. I don't see ANYTHING wrong with taking these people's vehicles until they can legally claim them. The $2500 ought to be higher. They shouldn't do anything to them but park them until the owner can pay shipping back to their country of legal residence. After one year without storage rental payments they should be auctioned off with the proceeds going to charity. I can't believe anyone who is a real citizen of our country is opposed to this bill. I think some of your perceptions of reality are distorted.

The man behind this initiative is a property owner. The problem is that when and if he does repairs to his properties he does NOT pull a permit or does he do the work to meet code. Maybe he should concentrate on taken care of his properties before he starts writing initiatives.

I regret that Mr. Hayes chose to single out illegal aliens when he wrote his measure, otherwise it wouldn't appear to be so racially motivated. I think that most rational people agree that unlicensed and uninsured people should not be driving, regardless of race. However, that law was passed last year. The newest measure takes away the police officer's discretion in deciding if the person is merely driving with an expired license, for example, or if the driver is someone who really should have their vehicle taken away.
As far as the illegal issue: I can honestly sympathize with someone who comes to this country out of desperation and I don't mind if they work to support themselves and their families, pay their taxes, and obey the laws. However, driving a car also requires that you be here legally and that is simply a convenience that they will have to do without.

My wife was hit by an Illegal Mexican National with no drivers license or insurance. She, the Mexican, ran a stop sign after dropping her kids off to school for their free education.
My wife was flown to Denver Health and was an inch from losing her life. Now, after 2 years, she just had an ankle replacment. One of many operations that has left her maimed and permantly scarred for life.
After all was said and done Bankruptcy for $300,000.00 for medical and other bills was applied for. She lost her job with the airlines now is on SSI and Medicare. Tell me illegals don't cost us money.
The judge handed down a $35.00 fine for no license and $200.00. for careless driving with injury.
Ironic that the gentleman who forgets his billfold at least once a week has a last name that is the name of the person who caused the accident.

This has nothing to do with with racial profiling, it has to do with the safety of our driving public, like me!!! Being born and raised in this great city, I have seen major changes over the years. I have watched several news reports over the years where the reporters confront drivers of all races getting back into the drivers seat of their vehicle just after being fined in court for suspended/revoked or not having a license at all. Being hispanic, I feel that this new law is applicable to ALL!!!!!! I certainly do not want to be hit by someone with no drivers license or insurance, would you?????

Nearly all of people that cross the imaginary line between the US and Mexico are indigenous to the Americas--where do all the white people on this message board want to "send them back" to? Or maybe white people just sour because Spain didn't slaughter most of the indigenous in their colonies?
Are there any organizations that have actually endorsed Hayes' I-300? Can he not even get the Minutemen or the Klan to endorse this?

If you are against I 300, then you are either an illegal, an illegal supporter or an anchor baby (which is not a "TRUE" Amercican anyway), so get out of this country!!! When anybody drives, hunts or fishes etc. you have to have the proper valid license on you at that time. You forget, then thats your fault and you face the consequences. Most of the time they (police) will run a computer check on you and if the pic matches what they see, then you dont have to worry about your car being impounded. For you illegals who use the go back to Europe saying. Well there was a time when boats came from US to bring other countries here and yes made legal citizens out of them. Sorry you missed the boat, but that time is over. We dont want to give you a chance to obey our laws, WE WANT YOU OUT! So go back to your country and wait for the new boats to arrive!

It is also a requirement to show that you are competent and proficient to operate a vehicle. Get documented, get a license, and get insurance! If thats too difficult, then you do not get to drive. I live in Jefferson County and would love to be able to vote on this inniative on Nove. 3. Mr. Hayes is right on and we need more people like him not only in Colorado but in all states! Mayor Hickenlooper and the Denver officials need to ge their heads out of their a - - and realize that illegal immigrants need to be taken care of no matter what the cost. No money amount covers the loss of lives because of illegals not working, collecting welfare including free medical, and driving around without a legal drivers license especially on Federal Blvd. What a unique idea to catch these people with out drivers licenses and notify the Feds to come get them and deport them!!! In fact, all hopsital emergency rooms across this country who help illegal immigrants should invest the money (Federal government should assist with this expense) and get on line with the Federal governments's social security verification system. If the person does not have a valid social security, the hospital administers medical treatment and contacts the Feds to pick them up and deport them!!!

I personally know of 6 people who have had their cars totaled by unlicensed, uninsured motorist who were allowed to walk away, no charges pressed, or they had fake documents that allowed them to remain in hiding. Some of the victums have lifelong medical issues resulting from the wreck. If you can not afford insurance, you should not be allowed to drive, take the bus or walk. If you can not obtain a legal drivers license, get in line at the immigration office and go through the proper legal channels. Why should the innocent suffer from the actions of the guilty? To all of the people who think I am being racist or harsh, ask yourself, do you want to be on the list of my 6 friends I mentioned above? I didn�t think so.

Unfortunately the Denver police have taken this I-100 out of control. In my neighborhood (Parkhill), we already have a racial profiling issue huge, and since this I-100 thing they are impounding cars at an frightening rate. Then turn around and sell the car at the auction. Who gets the money?? There has to be a better way to handle drivers with no license. The District 2 police in particular abuse there power that they have now and the I-300 measure will just increase the power that district 2 police officers can abuse.

Back east,in our city anyways,the police stopped pulling over illegal- alien drivers because nothing happened to them in court so they just wasted their time.Now think about who pays for the repairs of an accident with an unlicesed driver ,not the city!your insurance company and do they up your premium if possible-oh yes because they're not going to lose money! i have towed those cars, and the guy standing on the street that was driving supposely without a drivers licence was told that mr...so-en-so needed to come down and get his car from the impound lot with his drivers licence, officer would tell me that the owner of car has a warrent for his arrest and he stopped it to arrest the owner, but driver spoke broken english and said he didn't have a drivers licence, but to my supprise, would show up to pick up the car????? the same guy that was standing on the street, and he had a mexico drivers licence with a car that was registered 6 months before, i thought that if you owned or lived in colorado for more than 30 days, you needed to get a colorado licence, (except for going to school)

Harry Reid is just one of the dozen Members of Congress utterly accountable for seeing to it that ANOTHER 125,000 Americans each month are kept out of a work. Its this politicians uncouth insistence on providing cheap labor to pariah employers, that draws millions--no matter the danger--into America. Call your own Senators or Congressman 202-224-3121 and demand they make sure that the unemployment benefit extension keeps money out of the hands of illegal aliens. Sen. Sessions amendment uses E-Verify to authenticate a US workers right to 14 more weeks of these benefits.
