Cherry PitsBy Susan FroydPublished on November 04, 2009 at 1:00amIt aint easy being a pit bull in these parts, but if you were one, at least youd have the Colorado Pit Bull Rescue on your side. The nonprofit focuses primarily on homeless shelter pits who are taken in, rehabilitated and placed in loving homes and its overall message is that pit bulls simply arent born bad. Of course, it takes bucks to feed and care for their gentle wards, and to that end, Boulders natural pet supply shop Farfels Farm is dedicating the afternoon to a Colorado Pit Bull Rescue Benefit. Today from noon to 3 p.m., Farfel will donate 5 percent of all sales to CPBR; you can also have a professional portrait of your dog taken at the event, and $10 of the $35 fee will be donated as well. A selection of Adopt-a-Bulls from the rescue will be on site, along with CPBR representatives to answer questions. And, as spokeswoman Louise Williams notes, Another way to help, if your city doesnt allow you to have a pit bull, is by sponsoring one of their dogs. Get details how to do that and learn more about the organization at www.coloradopitbullrescue.com. Farfels is at 906 Pearl Street in Boulder; in case of bad weather, the rain date for photos, which will be taken outdoors, is November 15. Visit www.farfels.com or call 800-806-6994.
