This season hasn’t been stellar for the Buffs — and the Cornhuskers haven’t exactly been tearing up the field in 2009, either. But that’s no reason to throw in the towel when you can still party hearty at the Millennium Harvest House Saturday Afternoon Club’s Last Buffs Tailgate in the hotel’s Boulder parking lot today. “The rivalry with Nebraska always makes things unpredictable, even if both teams suck this year,” Harvest House spokeswoman Karen Meyer points out. Then toss in the uncertainty of other factors, including the fickle Colorado weather of late November, the amount of beer you can down before the 1:30 p.m. kickoff, and who will actually show up for the party. “People keep coming without actually intending to,” Meyer notes.

The party starts at 9:30 a.m., and the game will be televised on a fourteen-foot screen. But that’s not all you can watch while you snack and swig: This is also the final week of the Tecate Grill-Off Challenge, with open-air cooks vying for a trip to Mexico.
