As the others return to the vehicles, Million pauses at the reservoir's edge. He almost looks like his hero in the scene from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid where Butch is poised at the precipice of a river canyon. As a growing army of adversaries closes in, the desperado's preparing to leap into the great unknown. Maybe the gamble pays off and he gets away with it all — or maybe he goes down in a hail of bullets.

Million kneels down and takes off his hat. He splashes handfuls of water on his hair and face, then licks his lips.

The idea of using Flaming Gorge water on the front range is not Aaron Million's. It's an idea that had been studied more than once by the State of Wyoming and also in Colorado. Million wants to be a monopolist, selling two states water that they already own by federal decree at whatever price he thinks he can get away with. Communities would be smart to do what they are doing now by staying clear of Million.

Anyone in Wyoming dumb enough to fall for this drug store cowboy's act is going to get bit in the ass. I suggest everyone involved take a trip to the Owens Valley in California and on the way back mull over just how little anyone knows about how a diversion project this size would harm Wyoming and Utah communities.

This guys sounds like an arrogant dirt bag. Good luck with this "Alaskan Pipeline", it will never happen, hard to raise that kind of capital in his economic downturn. Water conservation must be priority one. Jack up the water bills and scare people back to reality. Hit new construction with higher impact fees. Good Luck.

Now it is painfully clear that the reason that no one is reducing water consumption is that there is too much money to be made in providing it. Denver could easily reduce water consumption by 20% but there is no money to be made.
