Dont you just love a win-win situation? Everything about the BordoBello Skateboard Project screams perfection: The AIGA Colorado benefit for Youth Design Denver and Access Gallery, organizations that pair high-school students with professional mentors in graphic design, embraces youth culture by offering up artist-designed skateboard decks for bidding. People affiliate skateboarding with design and art, and we have a great design community in Denver, notes AIGA spokeswoman Gillian Grefé. That community, she adds, will be well represented at the BordoBello silent auction, tonight at 6 p.m. at Andenken Gallery, 2990 Larimer Street: We have boards by more than 200 artists, and there are others on a waiting list.
Throw in some live graffiti and skateboarding demos, spins, door prizes and food and drink, and thats a sick 360 of an evening for any age. Admission is $15 in advance or $25 at the door, and board-bidding starts at $25 each; go to www.bordobello.com for more info.
