Stress Less

There’s a dark side to the holiday season: stress. Thankfully, there’s also a simple solution: YoChi for Holiday Stress and Beyond, a combination of tai chi and hatha yoga that will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

“We’re going to deal with some light stretching and energy work to clear our bodies,” explains class leader and Tai Chi champion C.J. Clarke. “We’ll regulate the body, breath and mind, so you can direct the energy to where you want it to go — homework, dealing with a job situation, family.”

Clarke has been hosting the classes at the Chi Life-Yoga Tai Chi Center, 4071 South Eliot Street in Englewood, since November 12, and he says reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. “It’s a relief, that’s the best word,” he says. “People said that their problems included a lot of different stuff, and they were just grateful that they had a way to relieve what they’re going through. We are working with kids because we’re seeing that there’s a lot of stress happening.”

To that end, Clarke offers a class for kids on Wednesdays from 5 to 6 p.m. Adult classes take place every Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m., and admission is free. Call 720-365-4941.
Saturdays, 9-10 a.m.; Mondays, 6-7 p.m.; Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m. Starts: Nov. 14. Continues through Dec. 31, 2009
