Xmas Marks the Spot

For some, Christmas can be a "rough time of year," acknowledges 3 Kings employee and Ooh La La Burlesque member Michelle Scheffer (aka Fannie Fitztightlee). One year, she and fellow Ooh La La producer Kitty Crimson were alone for the holidays and decided to throw a bash for themselves at 3 Kings: the Fuck Xmas party. "At first nobody showed up," remembers Scheffer, "and then, come ten o'clock, the bar got packed, and it was the most fun we've ever had."

The party has become an annual event. This year's version will include the burlesque and boylesque of Ooh La La, plus drink specials — but don't ask for eggnog. "We're encouraging people not to wear Christmas sweaters, to come as if it were any other night, and not talk about what they did or didn't get for Christmas," Scheffer explains. "It's not that we're, 'Bah, humbug!' We're just making the best of the situation. We're still celebrating, so it's not like we're total Scrooges. It's Christmas and we're going to have a party; we're just not going to play holiday music."

The doors at 60 South Broadway open at 7 p.m., and tickets are $5 (plus service charges if you buy online). For more info, visit www.3kingstavern.com or call 303-777-7352.
