Coming Home

Set in a Boulder apartment in 1986, Home by Dark is the story of a state trooper who drives from Pueblo to Boulder one snowy morning to confront his son about being gay – and to reveal a secret of his own. "The time and place is very important because it's really the height of the AIDS epidemic in America," says Tonya Malik, marketing director at Curious Theatre Company. "However, it's more than a coming-out story; it's about a father and son coming to terms with each other before one or both of their lives end. There's a lot of lovely drama about the father/son connection.”

An original play, Home by Dark was “very personally written” by Denver-based playwright Terry Dodd in collaboration with director Jamie Horton, Denver Center president Randy Weeks and Curious artistic director Chip Walton, says Malik. "It's great to be able to pull together these four long-term Denver artists under one project."

Home by Dark opens tonight at 8 p.m. at Curious, 1080 Acoma Street, and runs through February 13; tickets are $18 to $42. For more information, call 303-623- 0524 or go to www.curioustheatre.org.
