At some point in the life of everyone who ever got into punk rock after the '80s, there was that band that wrote anthemic songs that seemed to perfectly articulate how you felt about everything. Those songs were written to be catchy and to be sung along with by the people in the audience — who were not so very different from the people on stage. Redo is definitely trying to capture that feeling and that experience in the songs on its new album (due for release this Saturday, January 23, at Moe's Original Barbecue). With a sound that falls somewhere between pop punk and ska revival, these guys may not be pushing the boundaries of what the music can do, but their songs are well-crafted enough to be on par with anyone trying his hand at high-energy pop rock today. Snotty, lively, spirited and never dire.
