Hats Off to These Chefs

A culinary red carpet of superstar kitchen magicians will stir the pot in Beaver Creek Village during the Beaver Creek Master Chef Classic, which begins today for a three-day gustatory blowout. “It’s a great showing of national, international and local Beaver Creek chefs that get to share a lot of camaraderie in a beautiful alpine environment,” explains Tony O’Rourke, executive director of the Beaver Creek Resort Company, which produces the event along with Bon Appétit magazine. Over the course of the Classic, gastronauts can rub the chef jackets of some of the most notable names in the world of food: Cat Cora, Ming Tsai, François Payard, Alain Allegretti and Joey Campanaro — and that’s just the short list.

“It really is the perfect opportunity to interact with some of the most fabulous chefs in the world in an intimate setting,” says O’Rourke. Weekend highlights include grand tastings, wine seminars, cooking classes and the spirited Master Chef Challenge. “There’s nothing better than the electricity of 500 spectators rooting on their favorite chefs and going crazy for three or four years,” says O’Rourke.

Tickets range from $40 to $150, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Bright Future Foundation. To buy them, dial 888-920-2787 or visit www.beavercreek.com/masterchefclassic.
