Tea Time

"Tea is really the world's drink," says Kate Ashley, spokeswoman for the Denver Montclair International School. Hence the popularity of the school’s annual World Tea Fair, which runs from 2 to 5 p.m. today. “It's a very easy visual of seeing different cultures coming together in the same room in a harmonious way. It's a nice way to get a quick snapshot of a lot of different countries through tea.”

Represented in this year's fair will be Chile, China, Colombia, England, France, India, Iran, Japan, Morocco, Russia and Turkey. Attendees can sample teas and tea-time treats from all over the world, as well as learn about customs and traditions. A kids' table with crafts and activities will be set up, and certified tea expert Judy Williams will give talks on tea's health benefits, pairing tea and chocolates, and the historical impact of tea.

“We're just really excited to showcase our school and the international, multicultural flavor, and this is a unifying way to do it,” Ashley adds.

The school is at 206 Red Cross Way in Lowry. Admission to the fair is $10 for adults and $5 for kids; for information, call 303-340-3647 or visit www.dmischool.com.
