Great Debate

Two high-profile politicos from opposite sides of the partisan arena will lock horns tonight when the University of Colorado at Boulder's student-run Distinguished Speakers Board presents the touring Howard Dean and Karl Rove Debate in Macky Auditorium. And no matter how rote the agenda might be, it’s a match-up that’s certain to make sparks.

The disagreeing twosome — Democrat Dean, the former governor of Vermont and Democratic National Committee chairman, and Republican Rove, known as George W. Bush’s right-hand man, senior advisor and deputy chief of staff — will debate on a number of topics, including health care and education reform, riffing off of questions randomly selected from e-mail submissions by CU students. And, in case of a sellout (or those empty pockets so common on college campuses), the debate will also be broadcast free in the University Memorial Center’s Glenn Miller Ballroom.

The fun starts at 7:30 p.m.; admission for the public is $15 to $20 (get tickets at http://ticketswest.com); free tickets required for the remote broadcast at the UMC will be available at the door. Get details at http://castle.colorado.edu/dsb.
