There's a lot to be said for Lauren Conrad. Like the fact that she practically owns MTV and at least had the sense to dislike Spencer Pratt back in the pre-Speidi years, when poor Heidi Montag had just started dating the douchebag. Conrad's got a clothing line, has been on the covers of Rolling Stone, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan, and has just released a brand-spankin'-new novel, Sweet Little Lies: An L.A. Candy Novel. Take that, Kristin Cavallari, you C-list Laguna Beach bitch!

Sweet Little Lies is a followup to L.A. Candy, which tells the story of Jane Roberts, a woman who moves to L.A. and, seemingly overnight, becomes the star of a popular reality show. She has to deal with backstabbing pals, increasing scrutiny from the public eye and even racy photographs leaking to the press. At least we can say this for Conrad: She writes what she knows. Heidi Montag and Jamie Lynn are simply Hollywood horror stories that give parents the chills. With American Idol, Hugh Hefner's girlfriends, and the fame of Kat's new Halloween mask of a face featured on the show L.A. Ink, mothers are taking their daughters out at night to yoga, fathers are buying mocha for their children before bedtime, parents are doing anything to keep their teen away from the tv. Jamie Lynn was a role model as well as a writer, she acted well in the Sopranos - The gifted actress had an entire career mapped out for her - Now I can't stand to watch her speak with that artificial oval facial expression - Pity the nose surgery is hard to look at. Jamie Lynn was so gorgeous. The plastic metamorphosis is thick to digest with the eyes. As is Heidi Montag from The Hills. I felt sorry for Heidi when she met her mom in Colorado during a recent episode on MTV, but then her mother's worry seemed so saddening, "This is her mother. She watched Heidi grow into a woman from the womb. If anybody would be disturbed by their daughters freakish facial features, it would this woman who loved her and brought her into the world." Unfortunately I am waiting for the day when Spencer announces his divorce for a girl who looks like the old Heidi pre-plastic catastrophe. Spencer has only been in Heidi's life a short time. Montag's mother has been in Heidi's life forever. Now Heidi has ruined her career, marriage, relationship with her mother, brought paranoid to her family, who are waiting to see, "What next?" What can Heidi possibly accomplish next on her road to self destruction? The poor dope found herself caught up in a long list of Hollywood accidents that doctors will never be able to repair without more surgery. What is the next step? Total face transplant? Removal of genitalia? Feet binding used to be considered beautiful in some parts of Asia. How about a lobotomy? Joseph Kennedy had his daughter undergo a lobotomy at age 23, which left her permanently incapacitated. Joseph Kennedy was trying to achieve 'perfection' for his family! Now he is left with this rotten legacy. The man who made his son president is remembered as a freak who performed an experimental procedure - a lobotomy - on his own daughter so that the family could look as perfect as the artificial face of a West Hollywood nightmare known as Heidi Montag, the dream queen of a prince known as Spencer.
