Book Buzz

Good news for folks who like to talk books over a cozy potluck: Chris Cleave’s book-club-ready novel Little Bee is out in paperback. Inspired by the London author’s time spent years earlier listening to the desperate stories of people living in a British detention camp for refugees seeking asylum, the book is a fictional account of one such refugee, Little Bee, who flees tribal violence in her native Nigeria and ends up, connected by a thread of mutual experience, in the suburban home of a comfortable couple. Told in the tag-team voices of Little Bee and Sarah, the couple’s better half, Little Bee works on both a human level and a more universal one, pulling together the roles of individuals as they wade through the bigger picture.

Cleave will read from and sign copies of the highly readable book, touted by Library Journal as “the next Kite Runner,” tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover Book Store, 2526 East Colfax Avenue. For information, visit www.tatteredcover.com or call 303-322-7727.
