Regardless of the controversy, there's no doubt that Party With Oscar is the best way to watch the awards ceremony. And this year the soiree is bigger than ever: In addition to refreshments, a silent auction, a predict-the-winners contest and appearances by local celebs, the live feed of the ceremony itself should bring its own drama and spectacle. Even Garcia wouldn't miss it. "It's going to be a banner year for watching the awards," he says. "Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin are awesome choices as hosts. It should be beyond entertaining."
DFS unrolls the red carpet tonight at 5 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 1485 Delgany Street. Seats are $100, with discounts for groups and DFS and MCA members; the price includes appetizers and a dessert buffet. For tickets and info, call 303-595-3456 or visit www.denverfilm.org.
