Get Reel

Jason Bosch of the ArgusFest film series likes nothing better than to get people thinking...and talking. So Bosch, who hosts weekly screenings of films covering all manner of human rights and progressive issues at the Mercury Cafe and Hooked on Colfax, went deep this time. He’ll present the controversial film House of Numbers, a fresh — and not always complimentary — look at the battle against HIV/AIDS and where it’s going, tonight at the Mayan Theater, 110 Broadway, with director Brent Leung in person. Because the film takes a caustic view of AIDS research and where the billions of dollars being spent are actually going, the evening is certain to ruffle some feathers and encourage discourse. “I want people to come out and see the film and make determinations for themselves,” Bosch says. “Too often, people want so much to do the right thing, but they also opt for the easiest out. I’m trying to challenge people to ask a little bit more before they just fork over some more money for a cause.”

See the film at 7:30 p.m.; a Q&A with Leung follows. Admission is $10 at the door; get more information at www.argusfest.org/category/events.
Wed., March 10, 7:30 p.m., 2010
