Get Jazzed for Vinyl Mondays

The glory days of jazz occurred long before the digital age was a twinkle in some engineer's eye, which means that many of the best jazz recordings aren't available in any other format than vintage vinyl. That's why Dazzle started Vinyl Mondays, to highlight great music that might otherwise be forgotten. "There are so many unused jazz vinyl collections in this city that just sit and get dusty on the shelf," says Steve Denny, music manager for Dazzle. "It seemed appropriate to provide an opportunity for it to be heard. It gives us a chance to relive the good old vinyl days."

The night is hosted by KUVO DJ Erik Troe and Marinos Vidikitis, who hosts a jazz program on www.radiok.org. In addition to the jazz staples, Troe and Vidikitis do various theme nights and include complementary styles such as the blues, soul and Motown hits in the record rotation. And customers are encouraged to bring their own vinyl treasures to share: Anyone who brings in a record to play gets $3 draft beers all night.
