Step to It

Most people won’t get a chance to kiss the Blarney Stone this St. Patrick's Day (and during flu season, who'd want to?), but thanks to Olinger Crown Hill, you can take part in some other great Irish traditions. Tonight's free community event features music by local Celtic fiddler and singer Loretta Thompson and her Heritage band, performing popular Irish standards and jigs such as "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" and "Molly Malone." Irish step dance, from the Bennett School of Irish Dance, and Irish-themed refreshments will round out the evening.

"It's a great variety of music and performers, and the Pavilion of Reflection is such a beautiful place to experience coming together as a community," says Jeanine Spellman, spokeswoman for Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, Cemetery and Arboretum. "They've done a lot of traditional music events for years at the cemetery." The Crown Hill/St. Patrick's Day Celtic Celebration begins at 6 p.m. and will wrap up by 8:30 p.m. The Pavilion of Reflection is located near the entrance to the cemetery, at 7777 West 29th Avenue in Wheat Ridge.
