Sea and Be Seen

Future historians will no doubt fish in the vast, endless sea of audio-visual media we leave behind. Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett of the Found Footage Festival have already netted quite a catch from the early ’80s VHS era, collecting and curating the weirdest, most off-the-wall detritus ever committed to videotape in the pre-digital age and presenting the best of it with their own comedic commentary.

This entertaining duo is now back in town to present volume four of the fest, complete with a special presentation by kindred spirit Andrew Novick. "After our first show in Denver a few years ago, he invited us back to his house to check out his collection. It was an unforgettable night," Prueher recalls. "We just sat there on his couch until like five in the morning as he popped in videos."

Along with Novick's collection, they’ll show some of the worst Saturday-morning cartoons ever made, a David Cross-curated selection of video-dating tapes, and the usual assortment of bizarre video gems from the backwash of history. See it all at 8:30 p.m. tonight or tomorrow at Starz FilmCenter, in the Tivoli building on the Auraria campus. Tickets are $9.75, $7.25 for students and seniors, and $7 for members; for more information, call 303-595-3456 or visit www.foundfootagefest.com.
Fri., March 26, 8:30 p.m.; Sat., March 27, 8:30 p.m., 2010
