Local treasures seem to be intersecting in a billion ways this weekend, with Create Denver Week closing up shop and Doors Open Denver doing what it says. If ever there was a weekend to go out and appreciate what your city has to offer in terms of interesting places and creative people and shopping local, this is it. Where to start?

How about pumping some dough into the local economy? To that end, the Denver Handmade Alliance is helping to wrap up Create Denver Week with its Crafty Ballyhoo, featuring a large array of DIY merchandise from people who might just live in your neighborhood. Shop the market, which also includes interactive family workshops, a cake walk and contest, and a foam-flowery barista-art throwdown, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Create Denver Week headquarters and the Flower Garage, 1490 and 1430 Delgany Street, respectively; admission is free. Concurrently at the stately Grant-Humphries Mansion, 770 Pennsylvania Street, Brandi Shigley of Fashion Denver will be doing more of the same in a fine, old Denver manor at her Intrigue spring fashion market. Vendor booths, a mini-salon, live music and fashion shows by local designers will enliven the mansion’s graceful stairways and high-ceilinged rooms from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in a wedding of what Shigley calls her two major obsessions — Denver history and local fashion — in a unique way. Admission to Intrigue is $5, which benefits both the Grant-Humphries Mansion and the Byers-Evans House Museum.
