The Auraria Campus Spring Sustainability Fair, a project of the Colorado Public Interest Research Group (CoPIRG) and the University of Colorado Denver’s CoPIRG student chapter, Sustainability Minor and Sustainable Campus Program, kicks off today on the Auraria campus with “carbon-free concerts,” all of which are powered by solar generator; interactive displays (solar-based cookies, for example); discussions with Colorado state legislators; and more than forty exhibitors focused on economic, social and environmental sustainability. “Our goal is to educate the public, and the campus, in particular, about the complex issues of sustainability, a concept that’s often difficult to define,” says fair coordinator Gini Till. “We also want to inspire participants and exhibitors alike to find an aspect of sustainability that inspires them to take action and get involved.” The fair, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., is free to the public.
