With the release of 2009's It's Frightening, White Rabbits took a darker turn in its musical path, with songs about uncertainty and human frailty. Even though the music was moodier, the frenetic energy of the Rabbits remained firmly in place, as evidenced by their fiery and forceful performances. Sometimes lumped in with the "post-punk revival," White Rabbits could never be accused of following in the footsteps of Joy Division or Gang of Four; rather, the band's percussion-heavy, deeply rhythmic songs draw more inspiration from the likes of the Samples and the unconventional pop song structures of Squeeze. Although the Rabbits have performed on both Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel, their rambunctious and inspiring live show can, for now, still be seen in intimate venues.
