¡Arriba! ¡Arriba!

What to do when Cinco de Mayo lands on a Wednesday? Warm up for the weekend parties and street action with an authentic touch of high culture. The Colorado Symphony Orchestra’s annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration Concert will ring to the rafters of Boettcher Concert Hall tonight, with help from a couple of traditional mariachi ensembles.

The violins and trumpets sound off starting at 7 p.m., when tenor Jose Luis Duval, trumpeter Jeff Nevin, Mariachi Sol de Mi Tierra, Mariachi Juveníl de Bryant-Webster and the Fiesta Colorado Dance Company will join forces with the CSO to kick off local Cinco festivities; the concert is free and open to the public. Boettcher is in the Denver Performing Arts Complex; for more information, go to www.coloradosymphony.org.
Wed., May 5, 7 p.m., 2010
