The members of headRush like to call themselves a "psycho-politico spoken-word theater crew," and perhaps that’s the most apt description of this Bay Area performance group. The young and fiery multilingual collaborative ensemble turns current issues topsy-turvy with an onslaught of poetry, rap, slapstick, pop music and absurdist traditions that grab an audience and never let go.

As part of its continuing effort to support cutting-edge multicultural work commissioned by the National Performance Network, El Centro Su Teatro, 721 Santa Fe Drive, will present headRush’s Raw-Dios: Behind the Pigpen in the Morning, created and performed with guest artist Tommy Shepherd and national poetry slam champion Ramona Webb, today and tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show, in which a roughneck radio DJ’s rebellious on-air moves inspire four working-class listeners with their own hard-luck stories to tell, are $15 to $18.
