Forget trying to decide whether or not this music is just grind or a combination of crust and grind. What this record does from beginning to end is comment on the horrors of the modern world by embodying them in feral, distorted vocals and slashing yet pummeling guitar riffs. Where Dödsfälla shines consistently is in its rhythm section, which doesn't just rattle off blast beats like a machine gun, but instead provides brutal dynamism and accents the unconventional hooks in each song. Starting with "Symptoms," every track is a nightmarish evocation of a civilization on the verge of collapsing under the weight of its own technocratic hubris. Musically, this debut full-length is the darker, scarier but equally brutal cousin of Napalm Death's earliest releases.
